RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany, Dec.4 – General Frank Gorenc, Commander of Allied Air Command presents a Recognition Award, on behalf of SACEUR, to Lieutenant Colonel Michael Lewis. The Colonel was recognized for his " expertise within the NATO Air Base Selection Process, highlighting the importance of investment to meet agreed air capabilities and to correct airfield shortfalls.  In support of the NATO Response Force and SACEUR’s Readiness Action Plan, he and his team developed an airfield database, evaluating airfields on their selected capabilities and providing a readiness rating”.  This rating is vital to allow mission planners to nominate airfields to support tasks and possible missions to meet NATO’s level of ambition.
The SACEUR Recognition Award was established as a personal initiative of General Philip M Breedlove, in order to recognise exceptional service and outstanding individual achievement.  It is the senior Alllied Command Operations (ACO) awarded honour for personnel serving for NATO within ACO.
