NATO and Partner Air Chiefs meet at Ramstein

RAMSTEIN, Germany - On March 15 and 16, Headquarters Allied Air Command is hosting the annual NATO Air Chiefs’ Symposium. On this occasion, General Tod D. Wolters, Commander Allied Air Command and chairman of the conference welcomes the Air Chiefs of 25 NATO member countries and six Partner nations. Current developments and future challenges of the security situation to NATO’s integrated Air Defence will be discussed during the strategic meeting.

The main focus of this conference will be on how Allied air forces can most effectively support the Alliance assurance and deterrence activities. In this context Allied Air Command
has already been conducting measures like increased AWACS air surveillance flights or enhancement of air policing capabilities.

The meeting furthermore provides opportunities for bilateral discussions and consultations between participants. The conference therefore constitutes an important forum for further developing and increasing cooperation among NATO members and partner nations.

Allied Air Command is NATO’s single command for all air matters. Its responsibilities include amongst others the 24/7/365 safeguarding of European NATO airspace, operational control of AWACS surveillance missions and Ballistic Missile Defence.
