Last Alloy exercise in 2018 took place in Lithuania

RAMSTEIN, Germany - For the last time in 2018, Allied and Partnerair force detachments trained together in the airspace over Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania demonstrating NATO collective defence and practical coordination of NATO and PfP peacetime procedures.

Hosted by Lithuania, the event involved scenarios and drills which occur on almost a daily basis in NATO Air Policing. The two current Allies safeguarding the Baltic Skies, Belgium and Germany were joined by fighters from Lithuania and Poland as well as Finland and Sweden, and a NATO AWACS plane providing for realistic training.

During events involving loss of communication with air traffic control, crew ejection and search-and-rescue activities participating air forces further improved their flying skills and cooperation capabilities.

Held three times a year and planned and conducted by Allied Air Command and the Combined Air Operations Centre at Uedem, Germany, the Ramstein Alloy exercise series brings together regional Allied and Partner air forces. Since 2008 this type of exercise has offered training opportunities at the tactical level, enhances techniques, tactics and procedures. It underlines that vigilant well-trained NATO forces contribute to regional security and stability by operating across Alliance and Partner borders.
