Finnish Media at Rovaniemi during Trident Juncture 18

ROVANIEMI, Finland - The Finnish Air Force opened Rovaniemi Air Base to media representatives to provide them first hand impressions and an update on NATO’s exercise Trident Juncture 18.

The Commander of Lapland Air Command, Colonel Antti Koskela welcomed approximately 15 Finnish journalists to see how the aircraft stationed at the base during Trident Juncture work together.

Colonel Brian Montgomery, Chief of the NATO Air Detachment here, briefed them on the task of his team supervising and coordinating the flight programme with the Host Nation and the participating flying units.

F/A-18 fighters from Finland and F-16 jets from Belgium as well as United States Air Force KC-135 tanker aircraft are presently flying out of Rovaniemi to participate in Trident Juncture air missions. The media representatives had the chance to speak to representatives from these units and cover the take offs of Allied and Partner air forces.

Until 7 November, Rovaniemi Air Base will be the home base for the exercising units showcasing Finland’s capabilities both as a Host Nation providing support to deployed units and as a Partner operating alongside Allies during exercises and real-world operations.
