Baltic Air Policing training days on 17 and 18 September

NATO Allied Air Command’s third Ramstein Alloy training event is taking to the skies 17 and 18 September, with Allied and Partner air and ground crews honing interoperability, command and control and aerial skills. The tri-annual event uses training scenarios to further enhance Air Policing procedures and Allied-Partner relationships using NATO’s Baltic Air Policing assets and regional air forces.

Similar to previous Ramstein Alloys, the two-day schedule features the newest rotation of aircraft and personnel supporting NATO’s mission in the Baltics. At present, the Belgian Air Force F-16 fighters are leading the mission with augmenting Danish F-16 fighter aircraft based out of Siauliai, Lithuania and Czech Air Force JAS-39 based at Ämari, Estonia.

During Ramstein Alloy 19-III several Allies, Partner Finland and NATO AWACS aircraft are scheduled to participate in air-to-air intercept, search and rescue and communication loss training. Some missions will also involve training for Latvian Joint Terminal Attack Controllers.

For several years now, the Ramstein Alloy series, executed through NATO’s Headquarters Allied Air Command at Ramstein, Germany, and the Allied Combined Air Operations Centre at Uedem, Germany, has helped assure and train NATO Allies and Partners in the Baltic region.
