Belgian Air Force Welcomes First A400M Modern Transport Aircraft

MELSBROEK, Belgium - The Belgian Air Force welcomed their first Airbus A400M on December 22. Belgian aircrew and loadmasters operated the modern transport aircraft registered as CT-02 on its ferry flight from the Deliver Centre at Seville, Spain to Melsbroek Air Base.

As an early Christmas gift, the  Belgian Air Force received its first A400M transport aircraft at Meslbroek Air Base in Brussels on December 22.

Like several other NATO Allies, Belgium is integrating this modern airlift capability into Air Force operations.

The Belgian 15th Air Transport Wing will operate the bi-national A400M fleet of eventually eight aircraft from Melsbroek. During 2021, the next four 400Ms are scheduled to join the two planes now stationed in place and registered as CT-01 and CT-02.

The A400M will allow the Belgian Air Force to airlift personnel and materiel at larger distances in support of military and humanitarian missions.

"The A400M will allow the Belgian Air Force to airlift personnel and materiel at larger distances in support of military and humanitarian missions," said Belgian Defence Minister Ludivine Dedonder on Twitter.
