AIRCOM Commander visits the Deployable Air Command and Control Centre in Italy

RAMSTEIN, Germany - General James B. Hecker, Commander Allied Air Command (AIRCOM), visited for the first time the Deployable Air Command and Control Centre (DACCC) and the Italian Joint Force Air Component (JFAC) in light of the possible organisation of Ramstein Ambition 2023 at Poggio Renatico, Italy.

The diverse mission of the DACCC brings a unique and dynamic capability to NATO for a rapid response wherever needed

Major General Denny Traas, Commander DACCC, provided General Hecker with information about the DACCC’s high readiness state to deploy, a broad insight of the DACCC’s unit, and a demonstration of capabilities. The interoperability reached in the Air Command and Control System (ACCS) domain and an overview of the DACCC courses, with particular emphasis on the two-week Initial Functional JFAC Training (IFJT) course.

“The diverse mission of the DACCC brings a unique and dynamic capability to NATO for a rapid response wherever needed”, said General Hecker.pic-7-PtAkD1

“Relative small in terms of workforce, DACCC, however, can very effectively provide all of the Air Command and Control (AirC2), from the operational to the tactical level. Moreover, with its deployable active and passive sensors, it can enable multiple tasks for the Alliance”, specified General Traas.

General Hecker had a deep-diving in ACCS Testing and Training Facility to better understand its ability and features for air operations’ planning and interoperability into NATO Integrated Air Defense Missile System.

The DACCC provides a capability for deployable AirC2 of Alliance Air Operations. Its mission is also to prepare elements for worldwide operational deployment. Planning and executing the delivery of NATO Air Power across the entire spectrum of joint operations with well-trained and specialised experts to augment during Allied operations and exercises is key.
