Multinational exercise Real Thaw begins in Portugal

RAMSTIEN, Germany - The multinational exercise Real Thaw 2023 (RT23) began on February 26 with a ceremony presided over by the Portuguese Air Commander, Lieutenant General António Matos Branco, at Air Base 11, in Beja.

RT23 is an exercise organized by the Portuguese Air Force with the objective of evaluating and certifying the operational capabilities of the Portuguese military and training with NATO allies. It seeks to create realistic, simulated scenarios so participants can effectively respond in joint and combined operations, enhancing interoperability between all.

This edition has the participation of military forces from the Portuguese Air Force, Army and Navy and forces from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and the USA. Exercise RT23 will run from Beja until the 10th of March.
