RAMSTEIN, Germany – Allied Air Forces participated in Ramstein Alloy 24-2, a two-day training exercise from NATO’s Baltic Air Policing Air Base in Šiauliai, Lithuania June 25 and 26, 2024.
Exercise Ramstein Alloy represents a unique opportunity to further prepare our forces to execute Air Policing missions and to demonstrate the high level of readiness and cooperation among NATO members
The multinational exercise occurs periodically throughout the year and focuses on proving real-world training scenarios for NATO’s Air Policing detachments deployed in the Baltic region.

During this iteration, Spain, Portugal, Germany and Lithuania executed aerial drills along with quick reaction missions and procedures further enhancing Alliance cooperation, cohesion and interoperability.
The United Kingdom who are currently deployed on NATO’s Air Policing mission in Romania with their Typhoon jets, also participated in the exercise. Demonstrating the agility of NATO Allies, two Typhoons joined the drills over Lithuania and deployed and redeployed with support from a Royal Air Force A330 Voyager air-to-air refueling aircraft.

Participating Nations also practiced search and rescue missions, escort and intercept scrambles, these exercise scenarios enable Allied pilots to sharpen their skills through collective training.
NATO Air Policing is a collective task and exercise Ramstein Alloy provides an opportunity for Allied detachments to integrate their assets into Baltic airspace. Working together 24/7/365 to preserve the integrity and safety of the airspace above the Baltic States.
