Air Chiefs discuss Air Command and Control during NATO Air Chiefs' Symposium 24-II

RAMSTEIN, Germany – On November 14 and 15, senior leadership from Allied and Partner air forces convened to discuss NATO Air Command and Control (C2), during the second iteration of the NATO Air Chiefs’ Symposium (NACS) in 2024.

NACS provides an ideal forum to facilitate frank and open discussions

Commander Allied Air Command, General James Hecker, hosted senior representatives from 27 Allied Nations and 4 Partner Nations. The focus topic for NACS 24-II was one of General Hecker’s five priorities - NATO Air C2, evolution and implementation.

“Aircraft, air defence missile systems, radars and munitions all require an appropriately designed Air C2 system to ensure they are employed effectively,” said General Hecker. “NACS provides an ideal forum to facilitate frank and open discussions and an opportunity to learn and enhance our collaboration,” he added.

Following on from previous NACS topics of operationalizing integration, the senior representative discussed matters relating to NATO’s Agile Combat Employment, Integrated Air and Missile Defence and capability development. Through innovative cooperation, the alliance shared intelligence and exchange data to understand capability needs and challenges.

The NACs is hosted semi-annual by AIRCOM as a vehicle to exchange views and experience in the Joint and Air domain. It also provides an opportunity to compare and discuss cooperation, coordination and development of NATO Air and Space Power.
