NATO’s Single Command for Alliance Air and Space Matters
Since 1974, NATO has operated an Air Power headquarters on Ramstein Air Base, Germany. In the 1980s, the Alliance maintained some thirty international headquarters all over Europe. Reorganisations of the NATO Command Structure from 1999 through 2012 reduced this number to seven including three single service commands. One of them is Headquarters Allied Air Command, which is the sole source of Air and Space Power for the Alliance. We are an international group of highly trained, combat-proven airmen committed to the security of the Alliance and the projection of Air Power in support of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe.
