ANDRAVIDA, Greece - The Deployable Command and Control Centre (DACCC) deploys its Deployable Air Control Centre, Recognized Air Picture Production Centre/Sensor Fusion Post (DARS) to Greece in support of exercise Ramstein Flag 24.
Poggio Renatico, Italy, is the home base of the DACCC and its subordinate Unit the DARS. The DARS is NATO's sole ground-based deployable tactical command and control capability. This deployable capability is supported by 117 service and civilian personnel from 12 Allied Nations. When deployed the DARS provides the operationally essential capabilities for aerial planning, tactical command and control, airspace management and surveillance.
The integration of DARS into the NATINAMDS system is another milestone for the DACCC
On September 3, 2024, the DARS started their deployment in support of exercise Ramstein Flag 24, Allied Air Command’s newest live-fly exercise. Their participation provides advanced command and control and the recognized air picture required to support over 130 aircraft completing complex missions.

The DARS is fully integrated into the NATO Air Defence System (NATINAMDS) within the area of responsibility of Combined Air Operations Centre Torrejon (CAOCTJ), Spain.
"The integration of DARS into the NATINAMDS system is another milestone for the DACCC. This integration offers several benefits, including: improved detection and tracking capability, increased air situational awareness and faster response times.” said Brigadier General David Morpurgo, Deputy Commander of the DACCC. “The integration of DARS will have a significant impact on NATO's air defence capabilities. It improves the system's ability to detect and track threats and provides a more complete picture of what is happening in NATO airspace." He added.
The ability of the DARS to deploy active and passive sensors makes it a unique asset in the Alliance inventory.
